Joseph - Yeshua

Reading about Joseph this week. What an incredible illustration of Yeshua - the people of Israel - the redemption . . .

Joseph is sent to his brothers by their father - his own beloved father. He is stripped of his clothes, put into the earth and sold to the Gentiles (for silver).

He is placed in a position of power and authority (Yeshua is seated at the right hand of Yahweh). They don't recognize him and yet receive help from him (the six day war, the forming of their nation, missionaries). He seems to deal harshly with them but it is to see how and where their heart lies.

They do not have Benjamin with them when they betray him, sell him, or even when they approach him for help. Benjamin was the only son born in the Promised Land, he was not present at the time of betrayal but he is united with Joseph and the brothers.
Could Benjamin represent the Messianic church - or those who are Israel and they believe in Messiah? or both?

Joseph has two sons from an Egyptian princess and they are adopted into the family with full rights and recognition and inheritance. They are among the first tribes to be disseminated among the Gentiles. Could they represent the Christian church as it is today? Born from a pagan background, with a family heritage that is not recognized . . .

Just as the family was reunited in Genesis 48-49, there will come a time when Yeshua will reveal himself - not only to the Jews, but to the Gentile Christian church. And both will be surprised.

So what - or who - is this "new man - on the road to Jerusalem?" I need to research that.

God's word is so deep - and yet so simple. There really are levels of understanding to it - I see that now.
Off to face the day - with some meat to chew on.
Martha
